AboutOrot

Orot Israel College is now the largest, most prestigious and most diversified of all religious academic teaching colleges in Israel.

The merge with Moreshet Yaakov College (Rechovot) produces a single college which enjoys the benefit of two campuses. Undergraduate degrees are offered to men students at the Rechovot campus and to women students at the Elkana campus; M.A. degrees are offered at both campuses, subject to administrative considerations. A total of some 1,500 students are registered this year for full-time undergraduate studies, with another 150 M.A. students. The student body is further extended by participants in various courses and in the Midrasha program. Orot College directly oversees six teaching institutes, adjacent to yeshivot in Karnei Shomron, Ramat Gan, Merhavim, Kerem be-Yavneh, Eli, and Petah Tikva, as well as additional groups of yeshiva students in various frameworks.

The United College offers five teaching tracks: Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, Special Education, and Dance. These tracks in turn open onto a wide variety of departments and majors: undergraduate departments include Tanakh, Oral Law, Jewish Philosophy, English, Mathematics, Hebrew Language, Computers, History, Social and Community Education, Mainstreaming, Sensory/Motoric Development, Literature, Land of Israel Studies, and Communications. M.A. students may focus on Instruction in Bible and Rabbinical Literature (this specialization is now entering its fifth year), or Educational Counseling (third year of this speciality), or a new track, currently in the process of approval, in Educational Leadership Management.

The College boasts an advanced computer network, extensive libraries and sophisticated laboratories, pedagogic centers, dormitories, etc. Students have access to over 250 teaching staff and more than 80 administrative personnel. In short, Orot College is a single, major, prestigious institution dedicated to education and representing academia in the spirit of Torah.
